Ford May Consider Geely as Potential Volvo Buyer

Posted on November 5, 2009

Ford has been proactive in getting rid of ailing assets lately,
including included Jaguar, Land Rover, and even Aston Martin.

But one
brand that Ford has been slow to remove from its umbrella is Volvo. The Swedish automaker has not attracted promising offers, but recent reports suggest that Chinese automaker Geely is currently a front-runner to purchase Volvo.

News sources in China have reported that Geely has submitted a
letter of intent to purchase the company from Ford. However, Ford has
not yet released any details regarding a potential purchase notes St Paul Used Cars, but no other names of potential buyers have yet surfaced.

With Volvo suffering from layoffs and sales setbacks, Boston Auto Loans
suggests the automaker could benefit from producing cars in Geely
facilities in China. The reported offer will include a total investment
of up to $10 billion. In addition to potential China-based production
facilities, Geely also hopes to assist in the development and
deployment of the next generation XC90, which should reach Nashua Volvo Service showrooms within two years.

While Ford has recently denied the sale, and Volvo remaining silent
on the issue, Geely appears to be the most likely candidate as a
potential buyer. Volvo Service Jersey City points out that other Chinese automakers have also been mentioned as viable buyers.

Since the Swedish government has pledged loans to the automaker to help it limp through the current recession, Volvo New York
believes the Volvo brand has become somewhat more attractive for
potential buyers. For a Chinese automaker, the Volvo brand would be
quite attractive as Volvo has a fairly large dealer network within the
lucrative North American auto market, which Chinese automakers have yet
to gain. As Volvo’s estimated value continues to plummet

, it’s likely
that Ford wants to see a sale sooner rather than later.

Volvo Cars Have Always Been Durable

Posted on October 31, 2009
Filed Under Volvo | Leave a Comment

Throughout the history of the automobile, Volvo cars have always been known as durable. This is one of Volvos claims to fame. It is also why these vehicles have been so popular and why they are still around years after other brands of cars.

When it comes to durability, no other vehicle is as synonymous as the Volvo cars. They were made to be nearly indestructible and they lived up to that. Many old cars are still running today. Even the cars that are not on the road any longer will not have an owner that will say anything but good things about the car that served them so well for so many years.

When people own a Volvo, they know that they are buying a car that will not have to be replaced anytime soon. Instead of getting rid of the car, it will often just get handed down to one of the children. Then they go out and purchase a new Volvo to take the old one’s place. This is because these people are totally dedicated to this car.

Once you drive Volvo cars, no other car is going to be the same. Not only are they durable, but they are also very drivable. One of the problems with most cars that are built to last is that they can be hard to handle.

The same cannot be said about Volvo. They are very user friendly and they do not have issues with stability on the road. The car also handles like a dream which is another reason that people love them so much.

Those who are looking to purchase a new car would do well with any model made by Volvo. They are still built as tough as they were when the first one was made so many decades ago. You are going to get a great car that is going to last you and your family for many, many years.

The five Ways to Find Volvo replacement Parts!

Posted on October 12, 2009

Did you find this article useful?  For more useful tips and hints, points to ponder and keep in mind, techniques, and insights pertaining to Internet Business, do please browse for more information at our Webster. <A onClick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://www.bestuptodate.com”>http://www.bestuptodate.com</a> <A onClick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://www.supportcentercity.com/”>http://www.supportcentercity.com</a>

You love your Volvo, right. However, its time to replace a part, it could something that is hidden like a fan belt or a prominent piece of the vehicle such as the emblem or steering wheel. It really doesn’t matter what part needs replacing, what matters is the quality and price of the replacement part. You have worked hard for your Volvo and you deserve genuine Volvo replacement parts. These tips will explain the best way to locate these parts.

1- when you are looking for a replacement part, be it a replacement visor or a clutch master cylinder, the array of available sources can be hard to sift through. If price is not a concern for you, the dealership is one of the best choices around and even if price is an issue, the dealer is usually the best place to start. They will be able to give you an approximate price and may even be willing to give you some installation tips as well.

2- If the dealer is out of your price range, there are many more avenues to pursue. Looking online for a part is an obvious choice, and a good one. There is so much information available online that it is almost overwhelming. A good place to start searching for the Volvo part that you need is in forums, these can be in regards to the general subject of cars or specialized for Volvos in particular. The people that frequent these forums range in knowledge from experts to the people who just drove their new car off the lot. When you do find and expert, they are usually more than willing to help you in any way possible, after all, they are Volvo owners who love their cars too.

3- while online, be sure to look over the Webster of car part dealers. These Webster offer the chance to see pictures and read user reviews of the parts you are contemplating. Online Webster may also offer free shipping or deeply discounted price as well as delivering to you door.

4- Swap meets and auctions can also be great places to find the Volvo parts you are looking for. You can find both swap meets and auctions on and offline, of course, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. The online swap meet and auction allows you to do business with people from all over the world, however, you are relying on pictures and some ones’ word that they will deliver. On the other hand, local swap meets and auctions will have less people to deal with, but you can see and handle the products that they have available as well as take them home if you desire.

5- Above all, have fun during your search for the part that you need, even if it’s only a fan belt. The item itself is not as important as the knowledge that you are giving your car what it deserves, the best parts you can afford.

Volvo Performance Chip

Volvo means “I roll” in Latin and is founded in 1927 by SKF (Smith, Kline & French). The Volvo Group is a Sweden supplier of transport solutions for commercial purpose such as buses, trucks, construction equipments, financial services, marine engines and aerospace components. The first car built by this group is Volvo ÖV4. The Trademark of this group is equally owned by AB Volvo and Volvo Car Corporation. The main motive of the company is to own, maintain, protect and preserve its trademarks which include Volvo, Volvo Aero and Volvo Penta. The main aim is also to act against unauthorized registration and use of trademarks similar to the Volvo trademarks. The Group has about 100,000 employees and customers around 180 countries worldwide. Volvo performance chip is one of its useful product.
A Performance Chip is used to give energy boost to your engine. It also helps your engine or vehicle to gain power and resist a longer period of time. These are mainly of three types such as Control Modules, Power Programmers and Engine Management Systems (EMS). Each type has its own unique capabilities and characteristics but they have the same function of propelling the performance of your vehicle. Control Module plugs directly into the electrical system having various sensors and the computer. The module receives the data before it has a chance to reach the onboard computer. After that, it analyses the information, determines the accurate adjustments to the air-fuel ratio and timing, then sends commands to the onboard computer. It delivers accurate, immediate tuning for your engine because it is always plugged in and constantly reading and interpreting data from your sensors. The Installation process is very simple and does not take more than 15 minutes. Power Programmers reconfigure your vehicle’s onboard computer to perform at peak levels. These are plug-n-use devices. The advantage is that you have greater control over the tuning of your system. Engine Management Systems (EMS) is a complete replacement for your stock onboard computer. These are designed to customize your car, truck according to your exact specifications. You can fix Volvo Performance Chip inside your engine compartment. Once it is installed, you can unplug the wires from your old computer and plug them into the new one. It uses the readings from your sensors to run your engine at its peak level.
Volvo Performance Chip is designed to increase the power and performance of the Volvo. This is specially made for the year and model to ensure the performance and customer satisfaction. The technical engineers have tested this feature for longevity and durability of Volvo. It works with the existing computer to reconfigure and recognize the air to fuel ratio and thus create more power. This feature feeds your engine or vehicle with a heavy dose of power. It also prevents unrealized Volvo potential. It is a key to open the gates of full throttle power for your vehicles. A Volvo has a built-in computer which can be reconfigured to unlock its full potential in terms of air-fuel ratio, automatic transmission shifting and timing. Plugging a high-tech into it may result to a greater engine efficiency because it accelerates faster, tow harder and pass quicker without burning extra fuel or gasoline. Another thing is that you will be able to custom-tune your vehicle depending on your driving style and modifications. Also you will experience faster off-line acceleration and rapid passing because it will create massive boosts in both torque and horsepower across the entire RPM range. Some of the brands are Jet Chips Volvo ECM Recalibration Kit – Volvo 440, Jet Chips Volvo ECM Recalibration Kit – Volvo XC90, Hot Tools Volvo ECM Programmer – Volvo V70, Hot Tools Volvo ECM Programmer – Volvo C70 etc.

The Stylish and Robust Volvo

Posted on September 18, 2009

Everybody needs a sturdy and dependable car. Of course, not all cars possess these traits. However, Volvo cars have long been proven to both serve the owners to their hearts’ content. It was ascertained to sustain the toughest weather conditions brought about by season changes.

In acquiring a car, people don’t just look at the external beauty of the car, they look into the insides as well. A brand new car with a shiny finish but with a weak engine would not last long, likewise a used car with the perfect contours but with a rustic, coughing and sputtering engine won’t have a chance to last for even a year.

Volvo cars were able to meet the quality standards of the American public. It exudes style and elegance but has the robustness and durability of a truck. Its design is stylish in a sense that it coincides with the tastes of modern families today. The strength of its body enables it to weather rugged terrains. In turn, most Americans prefer this brand over others when it comes to style and muscle.

Volvo cars also provide a comfortable ride for the owner through its spacious and comfortable interiors. It has a lot of extra features that would truly make the ride a comfortable one.

One thing that makes the car attractive is the number of auto shops that are ready to fix and maintain Volvo cars. A highly trustworthy auto service center could answer any car problems of any Volvo make. The number of Atlanta Volvo service shops is numerous which makes it very accessible on times of car trouble.

Most Atlanta Volvo repair shops are equipped with skilled mechanics and hi-tech equipment that would diagnose and solve your car problems in the shortest time you could imagine. Of course, this does not include situations wherein your car is a total wreck and needs towing from a certain place.

If you own a Volvo or are planning to acquire one, there is no need to be apprehensive of maintaining it or fixing it because Atlanta Volvo service shops could be found anywhere and Volvo specialists are always there to assist you.

2010 Volvo XC60

Posted on June 18, 2009
Filed Under Volvo | Leave a Comment

As we roll inexorably toward the parked “car” in front of us at just over 20 km/h, every instinct I have screams out: “Hit the brakes!!” Habits deeply ingrained in a 40-year driving career are hard to break. But I’ve been told to keep my foot off the brake pedal, no matter what, and let the car handle everything. So onward we glide, with a low-speed impact seemingly a foregone conclusion. Hope the airbags work.

But at the last possible moment, less than a metre away from an imminent fender-bender, the brakes are applied automatically – and kind of abruptly – and the car stops itself in its tracks. No accident, no drama.

This is Volvo’s newest fail-safe feature – City Safety – in action, and the idea is to prevent or mitigate accidents occurring at speeds of 30 km/h or less. In a nutshell, a laser sensor located in the rearview mirror monitors the distance between you and the vehicle in front, and if you get too close, it will apply the brakes automatically. It can be disabled, but is otherwise in operating mode all the time. According to Volvo, 75 per cent of all collisions take place at or under this speed, and half of the time, the brakes aren’t applied at all, for various reasons….including driver distraction. However, it is important to understand that City Safety does not relieve the driver of the responsibility of maintaining a safe distance to avoid a collision, cautions Volvo’s manager of preventative safety, Jonas Ekmark. “The automatic braking function does not react until it considers that a collision is imminent.”

Standard equipment in the new 2010 XC60, City Safety also works in concert with other protective features, including the airbags and seat belts, to further reduce the possibility of injury. It works equally well during the day or night (although the windscreen must be kept clear), and functions independently of Volvo’s Adaptive Cruise Control system, which is a sonar-based technology designed to keep a safe distance between you and the car in front during highway driving.

Needless to say, City Safety is just one of a myriad of protective features found in the XC60. Other reassurances include lane departure warning, rear park assist camera, collision warning, a blind spot information system, and my personal favourite, driver alert control. This last feature notifies the driver if he/she is straying from their lane or not paying attention on the highway, and sounds an audible warning as well as displaying a cute little coffee cup graphic on the information display monitor. All these items are in addition to other active safety features that include a traction control system, hill descent control, a vehicle stability system, brake fade support, and the usual roster of airbags and ABS. Sweden is obviously full of deranged drivers crashing into each other at every turn because Volvo has gone above and beyond in the pursuit of accident prevention, and is pretty much synonomous with safety these days. The XC60 must surely be the most driver-insulating SUV on the market.

The XC60 is powered by a 281-horsepower turbocharged in-line six cylinder engine and comes with one transmission: a six-speed automatic mated to a fourth-generation Haldex full-time all-wheel-drive system. Parts of this drivetrain and various other components are used elsewhere in Volvo’s line-up, including the S80 and V70, and it has 231 mm of ground clearance for those who may feel compelled to take this $50,000 ute into the boondocks.

Volvo is also hoping current owners of the diminutive C30 coupe will move upward into the XC60 and its competition includes the likes of the Mercedes GLK, Lexus RX350, and, especially, BMW’s X3. It is, in all respects, an upscale vehicle. Standard equipment includes leather interior, dual-zone climate control, heated outside mirrors, power seats, hands-free bluetooth interface, Sirius satellite radio, and a fold-flat rear floor area with 40/20/40 split rear seats. “Ideal for carrying Ikea boxes,” quips project director, Lars Blenwall.

Effortless to drive too. On a 350-kilometre run up the Pacific Coat Highway and through California wine country, the XC60 handled the endless switchbacks and tight corners with aplomb and ease. You can actually adjust the power steering boost while you’re driving, and it’s sometimes easy to forget that you’re piloting a sport utility vehicle and not a sports sedan. Turbo boost, which can be an issue, is completely under control and virtually unobtrusive.

Designed at Volvo’s California studios and built in Ghent, Belgium, the XC60 features what exterior design chief, Doug Frasher, describes as a “holistic” body style. “When we got to work on the XC60, we were mindful of the Swedish love for the outdoors and wildlife. One of the big questions we asked ourselves was: ‘what kind of animal should it be?’” That question remains unanswered, but at least it wasn’t tagged as a bionic cheetah, as was the case with the Infiniti FX35.

The XC60 is expected to hit Canadian showrooms by April and will carry a projected base price in the high $40,000 to low $50,000 neighbourhood.

Volvo Cars History

Posted on April 6, 2009
Filed Under Volvo | Leave a Comment

Volvo Cars have a long and amazing history that spans over years and decades. Starting from 1927, to today, they have been manufacturing cars for over eighty years. And over the years, they have only improved.

Volvo Company, founded by Assar Gabrielson and Gustaf Larsson, produced its first car in a small factory at Hisingen, Gothenburg on the 4th of April in the year 1927. It was an open car with a four- cylinder engine and was called the Volvo OV4. They also produced the PV4 saloon. However, they were not successes and only 297 models were sold in that year. This was followed by two successful years with the PV651, the TR671 and the TR672 being released. Also, a more luxurious version of the PV651, called the PV652 was released. Volvo also bought the Hinsingen Factory where the cars were made.

In 1932, they passed a manufacturing landmark when they manufactured the 10,000th car. They made the first Volvo bus as well, which was called the LV70B. From 1933 to 1943, many new cars, buses and taxis were released. These were more modern and had many features that are seen in cars today. However after this, there was a difficult period for Volvo. The Second World War had broken out and this restricted the production of cars. But the year 1944 saw a significant change in the form of the Volvo PV444 and PV544. These dominated the Volvo car production till around the mid 1960’s and even caught the interest of the American market. They also released the popular Volvo 120 which was also called the Amazon.

These cars were far safer and security was even then, a main concern. The first car produced the Volvo company was the P1800, which rose to fame with Roger Moore. By 1964, the Volvo Company was pretty much booming. They had set up a company in Sweden that was capable of producing 200,000 cars a year. In 1966, the Volvo 140 family came into the market and the company hoped to secure their position with them. There were both saloon and estate models of these released, hoping to catch different people in the market.

The Volvo Company was also evolving and many new features like crumple zones, rear facing child seats, collapsible steering columns, side collision protection, and three way catalytic converter. In the 1970’s, Volvo sales soared with the release of the Volvo 240 and Volvo 340 series. In 1982, the Volvo 700 took the company into an exclusive market. The Volvo 400 replaced the 340 series and was extremely popular as it had more interior space and excellent road handling facilities.

In 1991 a new Volvo was released called the Volvo 850. It was the first front-wheel executive car and had a five-cylinder engine. It was a pleasure to drive and won great praise. They had proposed a merger with Renault but that did not come through. However, this turned out to be a boon for Volvo. This allowed the Volvo Company to develop the sleeker and smoother S40 and V40, which were instant hits. They merged safety, style and comfort and all of the other traditional values of the Volvo Company. With the 1998 Volvo S80 sedan the 1999 V70 wagon, they brought new meaning for the phrase ‘traveling in style’. In 2000, the Volvo S60 came out and in 2002, the Volvo XC90 was released. In 2003, the Volvo S40 and V50 were produced and in 2005, the C70 was released. The year 2006 saw the release of the Volvo C30.

Volvo XC60 in Australia

Posted on April 6, 2009
Filed Under Volvo | Leave a Comment

Positioned as Volvo’s entry to the “small premium utility segment” the Volvo XC60 being releasing late Feb 2009 will take on the likes of Audi Q5, BMW X5, Acura RDX, and the Infiniti EX35. Building upon its “safety first” tagline, the company has added a variety of features that maximizes performance, safety and fun to its newest model. It emphasizes high-tech content, style, and unbeatable capability.

Luxurious Styling on the Inside Out
The Volvo XC60 being released on late Feb 2009 reflects the company’s new design goals. Sporting a larger logo, a broader shoulder line, and a grille, the XC60 presents a bold and muscular appeal. Yet, despite its more pronounced styling, the new automobile cannot be mistaken for anything but a Volvo. It integrates traditional styling cues that the company is renowned for. The exterior of the XC60 is eye-catching but it would be a mistake not to look into its interiors.

The vehicle’s interior features the slim center stack which was first introduced in the S40. It is furnished with your choice of brushed metal or matte wood. The seats are upholstered with the X-theme, a two-tone leather stitched pattern that provides a choice of “cross county”, “cross city”, and “cross over”. As is expected from Volvo, the seats of the XC60 not only provide sufficient support, it is very comfortable as well.

Using a contrasting mix of materials including wood, brushed metal, soft-touch plastics, and leather, the surface inside the cabin is undeniably luxurious and appealing. There is plenty of headroom in all seats as well as sufficient rear legroom. In addition, the Volvo XC60’s rear tailgate opening is designed to be the widest in its category. If the second row upright, the model provides a generous 30.8 cubic feet of cargo. And if it is folded flat, you will have enough space for almost anything you need to haul to and from your home.

Power and Performance
Sharing the basic architecture with its XC70 and S80 cousins, the Volvo XC60 being releasing late Feb 2009 has an engine that is transversely mounted as well. The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine has a six-speed automatic transmission, an available sport mode, and the capability to produce 281 hp. The 295 lb-ft of toque provides plentiful power in the rev engine. Acceleration is expectedly smooth and flawless.

Focus on Safety
Volvo automobiles are known for safety because of a reason: safety is its primary consideration. Although the Volvo XC60 being releasing late Feb 2009 is not a small car, it provides a balanced ride that defies its built. Its steering is precise, the chassis is designed to minimize body roll, and the braking performance is excellent. The Four-C option active chassis system will also provide drives with three settings including Advanced, Comfort, and Sport. It allows the driver to adjust the setting according to personal preference and road condition.

Research shows that 75% of accidents occur at low speeds. In an effort to mitigate these accidents, Volvo introduced a feature aptly named “City Safety”. It uses a laser sensor that detects cars and other objects that are within 13 feet of the front bumper. The system will automatically apply the brakes if it determines that a collision is probable. The Volvo XC60 also uses other safety systems at high speeds. These features include a collision warning, lane-departure warning, and trailer-towing stability system.
